- Offered unlimited, free consulting based on our nearly two decades of experience in worldwide sailing education.
- Gave free sailing lessons to over 2000 people at boat shows throughout the country.
- Processed nearly 3800 responses to inquiries from our
successful 12 month ad campaign in Sail Magazine and Cruising World
- Placed articles in many national and local publications.
- Lobbied against taxes on boaters through the National Boating Federation.
- Exhibited at Sail Expo, Atlantic City, St. Petersburg and
Alameda, as well as the Annapolis Sailboat Show and other leading boat
shows.
- Contributed to a variety of environmental organizations dedicated to protecting our waterways.
- Polled all certified students and awarded the prestigious ASA
School of the Year award to superior sailing schools in four regions of
the U. S. based on the polling results.
- Held regional business meetings for school owners and instructors.
- Operated a system-wide 401 (k) plan for sailing school employees
- Renewed our U. S. Coast Guard approval of the ASA Instructor Qualification Clinic as a recognized safe boating course.
- Awarded the annual ASA Outstanding Educator Award to 12 instructors from around the country.
- Maintained NASBLA Recognition for the ASA Basic Keelboat Certification.
- Established a comprehensive, national sailing school insurance
program. This long awaited national umbrella of coverage will continue
to grow as services are added.
- Introduced Trailerable Multihull and Catamaran Cruising Multihull Certifications, with more to come in 2000.
- Established a Curriculum Development Committee, made up of
professional sailing educators committed to product development and
improvement.
- Expanded ASA's web site, www.american-sailing.com which links to your site/
- Re-designed Small Boat Certification program and introduced it to yacht clubs and camps across the US.
